The Breakfast Ball Buffet: April 17th
What would 2000 Tiger Woods have earned in 2024?

Good morning, and welcome to the Breakfast Ball, where we serve up an all-you-can eat spread of golf news! We hope the Masters hangover isn’t hitting you too hard.
Here’s a look at today’s menu:

Scottie is on Another Level
Scottie did it again, and it’s tough to say we’re surprised. When he tees it up, there’s an expectation that he will win. At this point, anything worse than 2nd or 3rd feels unimaginable.
Looking back on it now, the only chance the rest of the field had was if he withdrew because his wife, who is 9-months-pregnant, went into labor.
In his pressers both before and after the Masters, he kept saying that all he wanted to do was get home to her.
After his win, he didn’t even change clothes; he hopped on a plane with his Green Jacket from Augusta to Dallas, and went straight to a bar where he took pictures with fans ↓
Scottie got home and went straight to the iconic dive bar Inwood Tavern to celebrate last night.
What an absolute legend!

Really hope he at least brought a drink home for his wife!
However, he just won his 2nd major, so of course it’s time to dissect and compare him to everyone.
It’s fair though, considering he wins essentially every time he plays and hasn’t shot over par since August 2023.
Here’s the first comparison — how many strokes Scottie has gained over his peers since January 1st, 2022 ↓

SG = Strokes Gained
It’s funny because Rory is on another level compared to the rest, except for Scottie, who’s on another level compared to Rory. Ridiculous.
The next one — Scottie vs. some other big names over their first 120 PGA Tour starts ↓

Scottie has made over $15,000,000 so far this season. He is essentially a lock to break the all time record of $21,014,342 which is owned by himself.
It’s time to use this as an excuse to show how ridiculous prime Tiger was — so here’s much would Tiger's 2000 season would have earned him in 2024 ↓

More than 92.3 million dollars. Prime Tiger was DIFFERENT 🐐
Rory and Viktor to LIV?
After a rough showing by their players at the Masters, the LIV PR team decided to distract the golf world by dishing out rumors that Rory McIlroy is joining LIV golf.
City AM, London’s most read financial paper, is reporting Rory McIlroy could be close to joining LIV Golf for $850 million plus an ownership stake in the league. This report comes on the back of strong rumours among media members at the Masters.

Anyone in their right minds knew that Rory especially was NEVER going to join LIV, but it still generated crazy buzz on Twitter for the rest of the day.
On Tuesday morning, Rory shut down the rumors on his own, claiming that “I will play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career”. The Twitter frenzy was fun while it lasted.
Once that got debunked, an entirely different set of rumors started spreading about LIV making an outward effort to sign Viktor Hovland ↓
🚨#NEW: The Guardian is reporting that Viktor Hovland is LIV GOLF’s next target as it looks to make a push for more TOUR stars. Hovland has made some critical comments of Jay Monahan’s leadership in recent months. Hovland has been a part of LIV rumors for some time however.

Considering there have been rumors involving every single player on the PGA TOUR over the last 2 years, take this one with a grain of salt. Time will tell!
By the way, since we’re on the topic of LIV, check out infamous LIV poster boy Talor Gooch’s new banger quote ↓
🚨5️⃣4️⃣ #FOR THE FANS — LIV Golf star Talor Gooch questions golf having 72 hole events and says 54 holes is more exciting for fans: “It’s just funny to me, this arbitrary number of 72… Why is it not 90? “Why is it not 108? We just decided to make that number the number, for what… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

So you have Jon Rahm saying they should expand their tournaments to 72 holes, and then you have Mr. Gooch raving about 54. Good cohesion goin’ on over there!

For whatever reason, the PGA TOUR scheduled a signature event the week after the Masters. This means that we have ourselves an elite field this week, filled every top dog on TOUR except… Viktor Hovland 🤔.
It makes sense that Viktor doesn’t want to play, considering he’s aware of how bad he is at golf right now (see below) or he’s going to LIV (kidding, sort of).
🚨JUST IN: Viktor Hovland has withdrawn from next weeks @RBC_Heritage.

Harbour Town is very different from most TOUR stops; it’s shorter than average, extremely tight, and has tiny greens. That type of course prioritizes the best of ball strikers, and not necessarily the bombers.
Scottie is in the field, but there’s no way he wins his 4th tournament in his last 5 starts… right?
Buffet Bets
Here are the bets we like this week, but take our advice at your own risk because we’re down $106.52 over the last month:
Our favorite favorite: Ludvig Åberg to win outright (+1400) — new fan favorite and Masters runner-up is gonna rack at least a few up this year, so why not start this week?
Middle of the pack pick: Cam Young to win outright (+2800) — he’s gonna win eventually and we’ll be on him until he does.
Long shot: Keegan Bradley to win outright (+9900) — source: trust me bro.
Matchups PAR-lay (+385): Harman over Conners 72-hole matchup x Burns over Henley 72-hole matchup
Quick bites 🥓 :
