US Open Champ + POTUS 🇺🇸

So Bryson Dechambeau and Donald Trump filmed a YouTube video together. I know the news is two days old, but that doesn’t make it any less insane.

I’ll try not to spoil too much for those who haven’t already seen it and are living under a rock.

Trump’s ball-striking is shockingly good. I don’t think he missed a single fairway the entire video. 225 with a five yard fade, every time. And the iron game was almost as consistent as the driving.

He also somehow managed this

But that’s where his game falls off a cliff; his chipping isn’t exactly stellar, and the putting stroke is nothing short of insane

For a closer look… lol

I will say however, that I do believe Trump can break 80, and consistently too. You don’t need to be an elite chipper or putter if you’re playing 6000 yard courses where you hit every fairway and most greens.

Whether you love or hate the guy, you gotta appreciate how tapped-in he is. I mean filming a golf YouTube video with the US Open champ in the heat of his presidential campaign… legendary stuff.

The video has 5.5 million views in 24 hours and also helped raise $250K for charity.

In case you haven’t already seen it… enjoy

Charlie in the spotlight 🐅

Charlie Woods played in the US Junior Am this week, a tournament his father (some dude named Eldrick) won three times.

Charlie shot 82-80 to finish 18 shots off the cut-line. Here’s some worth-while footage

How fricken good is his golf swing though… I mean come on

We live in a culture obsessed with celebrities, and in the golf world there is no greater star than Tiger.

That inherently puts Charlie right in the brightest part of the spotlight.

I more than understand why golf fans are obsessed with the kid, but he’s 15 and is being treated by some as if he’s on the same level his father was when he was the same age.

He’s not, and having massive crowds with babies crying and 35 year olds yelling “BABABOOEY” after wayward drives following his every move is absolutely bonkers.

I mean just look at these crowds on a Monday/Tuesday for a junior event… LOL

Only the top 0.000001% of 15 year old golfers can function in that environment, and we all needa realize that Charlie ain’t Miles Russell or Blades Brown.

Speaking of Blades… not bad

And while we’re on the topic of Tiger, we got our first look at his leg without a sleeve on, and holy shit that is one of the most insane scars I’ve ever seen 😳

Anyways, there are going to be more rounds like this for Charlie, and he knows it’s going to be hard. He doesn’t need us to make it any harder. Just let him cook.

Buffet bets 💰

Both the PGA Tour and LIV are in action this week — we have a mid-at-best field at the 3M Open, and the usual at LIV UK.

LIV UK is being held at JCB, which is one of the coolest golf courses you’ll ever lay your eyes on

JCB Golf and Country Club

Regarding the hot streak… I typically wouldn’t declare it over after one bad week of picks. But my performance last week was so putrid that I declare it over. RIP.

Ride or fade at your own risk

Our winners 🏆

PGA: Luke Clanton (+2600) — yea so what he’s an amateur. He’s already better than at least 50% of dudes with tour cards.

LIV: Dean Burmester (+2200) — big Deano is the man. Having a great year, so why not ride the (relatively) hot hand?

The top-finish locks 🔒

PGA: Erik Van Rooyen top-10 (+375) — I got to speak to EVR once and he was a super nice dude, so I’m gonna show him some love this week.

LIV: Jon Rahm top-5 (+175) — Rahmbo’s been a complete wildcard this year, but he had a great showing at The Open last week and that’s enough for me.

Cross-tour-lay 🤝

Hatton over Niemann & Griffin over Meissner (+240) — It’s tough to explain my reasoning for picks on weeks like this. Just #trustmebro.

Quick bites 🥓

Coach Paddy: the 3x major champ showed us how using head covers when swinging can correct your hook and slice. Brilliant.

Albatross at the US Junior: Lev Grinberg holed a 242 yard 5-iron on the 12th hole that apparently “rolled in like a putt”. He won the match too.
