Here comes Brooks Koepka

Brooks won LIV’s Singapore event yesterday after a duel with Cam Smith. It’s his 4th win on the LIV Tour, more than anyone else.

BK hasn’t done much of anything since winning the PGA last year, and finished T45 at the Masters.

But now we’re one week away from PGA Championship week, and the best major performer of the last 10 years seems to have found his form.

Surely I’ll be buying some Brooks stock before the summer 📈

Crazy finish at the CJ Cup

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, the CJ Cup field was quite weak. That left us with a Taylor Pendrith vs. Ben Kohles duel on Sunday, and I must say, it was some must-watch television down the stretch.

Kohles birdied both 16 and 17 and had a one-shot-lead on 18, where he was greenside at the par 5 in two. Then, this happened ↓

He ended up making a bogey to Pendrith’s birdie, and lost by 1. Had his first PGA TOUR win at the tip of his fingers and completely blew it. Gotta feel for the guy.

Pendrith on the other hand, is a premium ball-striker and it’s shocking that this was his first win. I’d be willing to bet that he’ll notch at least a few more in his career.

Phil hints at retirement

In an interview before LIV Singapore, Phil hinted at an imminent retirement ↓

In all fairness, Phil is 53 years old and not exactly competitive anymore.

He finishes in the middle-bottom of the pack on LIV every week (which is good enough for $150,000+), and his only real accomplishment in the last three years is finishing 2nd at the 2023 Masters.

He’s worth nearly a billion dollars, has six majors and a lil’ bit of gambling debt. He’s had an ELITE career thus far.

Tom Brady once said “when I suck, I’ll retire”, and Phil might be thinking that way too.

Tiger updates 🐅

Recently in the world of Tiger news, he made the cut at the Masters (albeit, finishing last) and went on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show to launch his new “SDR” clothing line.

It’s worth reminding y’all that his Masters win was 5 years ago, meaning his 5 year major exemptions have expired.

Don’t fret, it’s Tiger Woods, and all the majors will be giving him special exemptions until the day he retires.

On Thursday, the USGA announced the special exemption for this years US Open at Pinehurst ↓

On top of that, the PGA Championship week is in 7 days time, and Tiger is spending his Monday scouting the venue: Valhalla Golf Club 👀

Might as well toss this all-time TW highlight in here from when he won the PGA at Valhalla in 2000 ↓

Can’t wait to get my hopes up again for the Big Cat next week!

Talor Gooch is BACK

Don’t get me wrong, Talor Gooch is a great golfer. He’s not as great as he thinks he is, but he’s definitely still great.

The thing he’s best at though, isn’t golf related. It’s saying crazy shit that causes golf Twitter to go absolutely bonkers.

He blessed us with some new content this week, and it was hilarious ↓

We all know the LIV guys aren’t getting world ranking points, so most of them are doing what it takes to qualify for majors.

I’ve grown into appreciating LIV for what it is so when I see G-Mac and Kokrak saying they’re gonna grind it out, that shit rocks.

All jokes aside, Gooch not trying to qualify for the US Open/The Open is loser behavior. No one’s too cool to grind.

The Buffalo Bills new WR1 loves golf

In Keon Coleman’s NFL combine interview with the Bills, they asked him what his favorite pass-times are.

The stud receiver said he loves golf, and that he’s “Tiger Wish-he-could” 😂

The Bills ended up drafting him, so clearly they loved that answer.
