The Breakfast Ball Buffet: 5/27

GM, y’all! Welcome to the Breakfast Ball Buffet, where we serve up a hearty helping of news from the world of golf to start your day on the right course. Here’s the today’s dish:
Rest In Peace, Grayson Murray 😓
Davis Riley outlasts Scottie 🏆
Harry Higgs is the eagle king 🦅
Bryson Dechambeau x Travis Kelce 🔥
Rest In Peace, Grayson Murray 😓
On Friday afternoon, Grayson Murray withdrew from the Charles Schwab after the 16th hole, and didn’t cite a reason.
On Saturday morning, it was announced that the two-time PGA Tour winner passed away suddenly at the young age of 30.
The entire golf world chimed in to share kind words and send their condolences to his family and friends.
Peter Malnati went on the CBS broadcast to share his own words on the situation, and it’s an absolutely heartbreaking watch ↓
That was a powerful interview with Peter Malnati about Grayson Murray. It really puts things into perspective.

Murray was very open about his mental health struggles over the years. It’s rare that we get this level of emotional openness from golfers ↓
An honest conversation about mental health struggles.
Grayson Murray opens up about the last six years and his continuing fight while supporting others who battle with mental health. 💚🫶

Redemption is something we all latch onto. We root for comebacks for people facing adversity and seeing him shine, succeed and win earlier this year was incredible.
If you’re struggling with mental health, please reach out for help. You don’t have to fight it on our own and the right support system is so crucial. 30 years old is way too young. Life can always get better.
Rest in peace, Grayson.

So Davis Riley beat Scottie Scheffler in what was essentially a mano-a-mano showdown all weekend. Didn’t have that on my bingo card.
With what transpired this week it’s hard to be in a celebratory mood, but Davis Riley deserves enormous credit for playing lights out to win this weekend.
He beat the field including the best player in the world by 5 strokes. A big career moment for the 27-year-old.
Riley was up 7 shots on Scottie through 36 holes, and somehow, they were co-betting favorites. Do you realize how ridiculous that is?
By the way, Scottie still hasn’t won a golf tournament past the month of April in his career 👀
Harry Higgs is the eagle king 🦅
Last week on the Korn Ferry Tour, Harry Higgs was two shots back of the leader on the 72nd hole of the golf tournament. Then, this happened ↓
Down to the wire 👀

He ended up winning in a playoff. Sick.
Now fast forward to yesterday, and Harry found his way into yet another playoff on the KFT. They tied the first playoff hole with birdies, then Higgs did this on the second playoff hole ↓

I can’t remember the last time a player had walk-off eagles in back-to-back weeks to win, and that’s probably because it’s never happened before.
Worth adding that he gave an impactful speech on the loss of Grayson Murray and the importance of being nice to one another. If you have a second, please give it a watch ↓

Bryson Dechambeau x Travis Kelce 🔥
Last week we wrote about how Bryson is the hottest golf stock right now.
Just six days later, he was chilling with the greatest tight end of all time, Travis Kelce, at the Dallas Stars-Edmonton Oilers game ↓

Funny moments of the week 😂
Up first, we have a rare Brian Harman rage session. Seemed like he was pissed at his caddie for a poor club choice ↓

Next, we have a dude almost getting absolutely railed by a golf ball, and then reacting like LeBron trying to draw a foul ↓
Absolutely priceless reaction.

Apparently, Justin Rose is #oneofus. He shanked the living shit out of this golf ball. T6 finish at the PGA Championship last week, and looking like a 30 handicap this week. Love to see it ↓

Lastly, we have the Florida Panthers trainer wearing… Tiger’s Nike shoes? I don’t really know why, but not what I expected to see while watching the Rangers-Panthers game yesterday ↓

Quick Bites 🥓
Putter ace at Bandon Dunes: Best putt I’ve ever seen. The 13th hole at Bandon Dunes is awesome. As you can see, putter is the clear club-of-choice from 130 yards 😂
Scottie wasn’t the only dude to run into the law at Valhalla last week: Two men were stopped by officers while they watched the PGA Championship last week from their Kayaks.
Garrett Clark is a wizard: GM Golf golf became massive for a reason. This guy’s magic.
