The Irish Open did not disappoint 🇮🇪

National opens are always a little more special than your average tour event, and this week’s Irish Open at the best course on planet earth did not disappoint.

Rasmus Højgaard birdied his last three to beat Rory by 1 stroke, including this nasty hole out on the 71st hole

The real story here is Rory-related. Playing on home soil at his favorite course, he led for most of back 9 on Sunday. After Højgaard’s three straight birdies to finish, he needed an eagle on 18 to tie.

350 yard drive down the middle, and an 8 iron from 191 to 10 feet. Putt barely lipped out on the high-side.

We all know the heartbreak he suffered at the US Open in June, and honestly, this one is going to suck too.

It’s no where near Pinehurst-level, but that was another gut punch for for the Northern Irishman, especially because it was in front of a home crowd.

Here’s a great soundbite from after the round

And in case you were wondering about the crowd sizes…

Rahmbo wins again 🏆

The LIV Golf individual title and $22 million were up for grabs this week at Bolingbrook Golf Club (lol) in Chicago.

Brooks got off to a hot start and was leading by multiple shots at a point on Saturday, but it was Jon Rahm’s bogey-free 64-66 over the weekend that got it done.

Rahmbo made the move to LIV in late 2023, and his 2024 season was a weird one.

His major finishes were sub-par (T45-CUT-WD-T7), and he finished top-10 in every LIV event he played.

Took him a while to get one over the finish line, but he won in the UK two months ago and then won the individual title yesterday.

There were reports that he massively regretted his decision, but I’m sure he’s feeling pretttttty good two wins and $300M+ later.

USA wins the Solheim Cup 🇺🇸

For those who don’t already know, the Solheim Cup is LPGA version of the Ryder Cup and was held in Virginia over the weekend.

The last time the American’s won the cup was in 2017, so it was pretty imperative that they get it done on home soil… and they did.

There were several noteworthy moments, but I couldn’t hold back from sharing these two with you guys:

This one’s crazy. Alison Lee holed out for eagle to win her match on Saturday, and her caddie decided to go full tarps off in celebration. Elite content

Charley Hull continues to be the biggest badass in golf. I don’t know why the whole cigarette smoking thing makes her so much cooler, but it just does.

On top of being the biggest badass in golf, she absolutely demolished Nelly Korda in their singles match on Sunday, winning 6&4. A loss for Nelly was fathomable, but not that.

Procore Championship recap 🗞️

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and just assume no one reading this watched more than 15 minutes of the Procore Championship last week, which is totally fine.

To be fair, it’s not exactly an event that we expect any eye-candy from, so this isn’t a bash.

To keep everyone in the loop regardless, Patton Kizzire won by five in dominant fashion.

By the way, Patton was only +20000 to win this weekend. Jesus.

See y’all for the Presidents Cup in my hometown!

Quick bites 🥓

Tyrell ace!: the most sane man in golf jarred one from 164 at Bolingbrook over the weekend.

Must watch: some rare footage of Bobby Jones playing Pebble Beach in 1929.

From Narnia: Rory hit the shot of the week from no man’s land. Literally.
