Scottie Scheffler was arrested

The Breakfast Ball Buffet: Special Edition

Good morning golf fans! Buckle up because we have an emergency newsletter on our hands. Here’s what we have on the burner for today:

  • Scottie Scheffler got arrested this morning

  • PGA Championship day one recap

Scottie Scheffler got arrested this morning

World #1 Scottie Scheffler was detained by police while attempting to reach Valhalla Golf Club. Yes, you read that right.

At approximately 6:00 am on Friday morning, right outside of the entrance to Valhalla Golf Club, a pedestrian was struck by a shuttle and passed away.

In response to the tragic incident, the Louisville Police Department had to block the entire road to enter the golf course, and the PGA Championship delayed all Friday tee times by 80 minutes.

Naturally, standstill traffic was caused, and players were unable to get to the course. So, Scottie allegedly took matters into his own hands. Here’s what happened next

At approximately 8:00 am, Scottie was booked by the Louisville Police Department, and was charged with:

  • 2nd Degree assault of Police officer

  • 3rd degree Criminal Mischief

  • Reckless driving

  • Disregarding signals from officer directing traffic

GIVE ME A BREAAAAAAK. We’re talking about golden-boy, model-human-being Scottie Scheffler here. Until I’m shown body-cam footage that says otherwise, I won’t believe any of it.

Anyways, here’s his mugshot. Someone put this on a t-shirt please

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any crazier, the owner of Valhalla Golf Club drove to the police station, and was the one who picked Scottie up from jail and drove him to the course.

Then, at 9:14 am, Scottie arrived at Valhalla

The situation is obviously still unfolding, but it appears as if Scottie will make his 10:08 am tee time today.

I’m so excited to see how he plays. He just had the most unexpected and insane morning of his entire life, and now has to go play the 2nd round of a major. Get your popcorn ready, he might shoot a 59 🍿

Golf Twitter is having a day

I am well aware that this is a very serious situation, but golf twitter is having a GOAT-level day, and you needa see it.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite tweets from this morning:

PGA Championship day one recap

Day one at Valhalla might’ve been low scoring, but it was must see television.

After getting strong-armed by Rory last Sunday, Xander lead by 3 after shooting the lowest round in PGA Championship history

Rory also got off to a rock solid start with a 5-under 66, and he did so while hitting his biggest weapon, the driver, like absolute trash. Check this insane shot he hit on the 1st hole

The Block Party just might be over after Michael Block carded a 76, which was extremely impressive considering he was +5 through 2 holes.

Scottie picked up right where he left off, doing the most Scottie Scheffler thing of all time on the first hole

Only Scottie would pull some shit like that on the first hole after 4 wins in his last 5 starts, and having a baby last week. He ended up shooting a 4-under 67.

Jon Rahm had an interesting day as well. He was +4 through 6, threw a club on three separate occasions, and battled all the way back to 1-under par. Here’s the best club throw of the three

I thought day one was entertaining, and before a golf shot was even hit on day two, it’s already been one of the craziest days in golf that I can remember.

Let’s have a day and let’s have a weekend. Nothing like major championship golf 🏆

Quick Bites 🥓

Cam Young and Will Zalatoris JAYWALKING as they walk to the course around the traffic this morning… where’s the police when you need them? 😂

Married to the game: some dude brought a hard hat and vest to the course in case his wife called.

2 packs, 4 bars, 2 Diet Cokes: John Daly’s round 1 consumption at the PGA was just as you’d expect.
